West London Futsal Club is on map!

On the 25th April 2009, at Moberly Sports Centre, The West London Futsal Club hosted the First Annual West London Futsal Cup. The Inaugural competition saw over 150 young people compete in what for many was their first exposure to the game of Futsal. Despite this, the level of play was of a very high standard and the players all gave an excellent account of themselves. In the morning the Girls U16 final saw Sacred Heart play Fitzrovia which went to penalties before Nathalie Zajaczkowski slotted home to give Sacred Heart the Cup. The Boys U12 final saw the Futsal novices of Greenford Celtic narrowly edge out the young West London Futsal club in a penalty shoot out. The score was 1-1 at full time when Daniel Rodrigues rescued WLFC with a rocket of a strike to take the game to penalties.   In the Afternoon, The Boys U14‘s saw West London Futsal win on Sudden death penalties against Samba Street Soccer after being tied 2-2 at the whistle. Each player was on their third penalty before the result was finally secured by Fabio Nunes. The U16’s saw a tightly contested Semi-Final of FC Edmonton against Stanmore Kodak, which Stanmore won 2-1 after coming from behind against a free flowing Edmonton team. Stanmore then took the lead in the Final before Brentford equalised and subsequently won in the dying seconds of the game. We would like to thank everybody who participated in the tournament, both players and coaches. We would also like to make a special mention of the great work done by all the staff and volunteers alike especially Gavin Johnson who put a lot of time and effort into the smooth running of the day.
