Sheffield FC went into the game on the back
of two straight defeats which had seen them drop to third in the table. The game started brightly with some positive,
end to end futsal and Sheffield took the lead
3 minutes in with a classic far post goal from Matthew Hammond.
Boro responded and leveled soon after when
a mix up in the Sheffield Defence allowed Boro to capitalize and restore
parity. An intriguing tactical battle
ensued with Boro defending deep and springing counter attacks at every
opportunity. It was advantage Boro at
the interval with a 3-2 Scoreline in favour of the visitors.
Sheffield FC rallied early in the second
half and began in earnest the task of overturning the deficit, now demonstrating
a greater cutting edge to their possession then previously witnessed. This was rewarded with goals from Cook and
Chapman to give Sheffield the lead with ten
minutes remaining.
However another trademark counter attack
threatened to spoil the Sheffield party, when
Boro again leveled with just over 5 minutes remaining. A draw was looking the likely result now
until a great Sheffield attack dissected the
organised and resolute Boro defence. A precise, diagonal pass found MOORE alone at the back post
to give Sheffield the spoils with only a
couple of minutes remaining.
Sheffield FC now face league leaders
Tranmere Victoria in their next game on Sunday 18th May.
Stats: Boro 3 staright defeats, Sheffield first win after 2 defeats. Both teams have a gaol difference of +5; yet Sheffield are +6 points above Boro.
