Letter From Ethiopia 

Ethiopia does not establish Ethiopian Futsal Association. Infact like other countries people use to play five-a-side games in the fields in their surrounding.These games are not followed by the standard Futsal rules. The Addis Ababa futsal association is striving to introduce the formal rules and regulations of Futsal in the capital .This association established in April 8, 2006.

Thus, the association accomplished the following important activities:

• - Held a game by forming two teams who lead by two former national team star players namely Asegid Tesfaye and Elias Juhar. The objectives of the game were for advertisement and to recognize the game.
• - Futsal demonstration and a referee course has been given for more than 120 Kotebe teachers' college students and organizing a half day futsal competition among 8 teams.
• - The Addis Ababa futsal association registers 18 teams and conducting a 3 week competition. Most of these players are from the junior and senior players of the Ethiopian (football) Premier League.

This competition calls attention by a lot of spectators and covered by different local Medias. The competition implies futsal will get great attention and enjoyed if it spread to other parts of our country. In short, the role of Addis Ababa Futsal Association is to make an awareness of Futsal in the whole country by establishing Ethiopian Futsal Association. The aims of establishing the association are to create linkage with different associations in the world and participate in the international futsal competitions and to meet the objectives of the sport.
