It was 18 months ago when Enfield Leisure Centres decided it did not want Futsal in the Borough and raised the prices of hall hire beyond the level where Enfield Futsal league was prepared to pay.

Today Futsal comes back to the borough in a big way with the announcement that FA Umbro National League side FS Northaw are changing their name to Futsal Club Enfield and will be training in the borough once again and also linking up with the Enfield Futsal League to bring Futsal back to the borough with league games being played at Enfield College and Albany School.

Secretary Rob Brassett said 'This is something we have wanted to do for some time we are very grateful to Northaw Football Club for assisting us when it was needed are the start of the season'

This brings National League Futsal to the Borough and is an exciting time for the side having recently beaten two of the top teams in the country White Bear and

It was felt to assist the side in it progression it should take on the name of Enfield the Borough it come from and therefore be in a position to represent the Borough better, The move would also assist the club with advertising and sponsorship and increasing its profile.

More information on FC Enfield can be obtained by going to its new web-site http://www.brassett.net/fcenfield/fceindex.html

FA National Cup

Saturday saw the club play is last Futsal under the FS Northaw name as it took part in the qualifying stages of the FA national Cup.

The side were placed in a group with Manuden and Lyric from Essex, Both team had come through from their regional leagues as winners while FS Northaw were there due to grabbing the 3rd place spot in the National League.

v Manuden

Things started well with Aaron Cato scoring early in the half to get his side off the mark, But Manuden were not going to let things get away and hit back with two quick goals to make it level and then go into a 2-1 lead. Just before the break Stuart Gore scored for Northaw and they went in level at half time.

the second half saw Aaron Cato put the side into a 3-2 lead and from here the game was going to go either way, Manuden made it 3-3 and then went 4-3 up, Kirt Osborn scored to make it 4-4 and then Justin Dickinson made it 5-4 but Manuden with seconds to go grabbed the victory with 2 goals in minutes to take the 6-5 win and in effect knock FS Northaw out of the cup.

Manuden faced Lyric in the second game and obtained a 9-1 victory which saw them through to the final against Genesis who had come through the other group. Genesis grabbed a 6-0 win and so progress to the finals in Sheffield.

v Lyric

But before all that happened FS Northaw had to play its last game under that name and went out in style with and 19-1 victory.

Aaron Cato made it 1-0, but Lyric hit back soon after and made it 1-1, Kirt Osborn made it 2-1, then Stuart Gore made it 3-1  Hatim Mosey found the net to make it 4-1 before Sam Judge chipped it to make it 5-1.

Denis Zedeikis found the net two in quick succession to make it 6-1 then 7-1 and just before the break Aaron Cato made it 8-1 to seal a good first half performance.

The second half saw Aaron Cato increase his tally to 6 hitting four goals in the space of 8 minutes to make it 12-1, Sam Judge made it 13-1. then Hatim Mosey scored his 2nd of the game to make it 14-1. Then Justin Dickinson got in on the act scoring to make it 15-1.. Hatim Mosey score his third and so grabbed a hat-trick with a goal on 37 minutes to make it 16-1. Aaron Cato got his 7th to make it 17-1. Then with seconds to go Zaine Martin made it 18-1 and Kirt Osborn made it 19-1

This rounded off a great performance by the side to comeback knowing they had lost out on a chance to get to the national Finals in July. they can only now hope a possable wild card place comes available and they have done enough to take a place, but know other teams around the country are all looking for that lifeline.
