Futsal... another brick in the wall, read how the game is developing in Australian schools -

Sport in this country has predominantly been developed and governed by a traditional club based structure unlike other

countries where the school system provides the majority of the sporting infrastructure.

Since the late 80’s Vikings Futsal has been forging strong links with primary and secondary schools throughout Australia.  In fact, many current employees come from a teaching background themselves. Futsal provides an accessible and highly attractive option within any school sporting curriculum.  Easy to play and learn, minimal equipment, minimal space (about 15 meters x 25 meters), and a quick turnaround of participants is all that’s required to run a dynamic and exciting option for any physical education class, lunchtime sporting competition, after school program and technical development and talent identification component to any football program.  Alternately with the pathways, opportunities, network and assistance that Vikings Futsal has established over many years, futsal in its own right as an ongoing intra school program or at a competitive and participatory inter school format is now a reality.  Moreover the development of the “Futsal Schools of Excellence” blueprint now exists and is implemented in over 20 futsal specific educational institutions and their curriculums across Australia and New Zealand.

Pathways for schools

Over 2500 teams from schools throughout the country currently partake in the Vikings Futsal School Championships every year.  Beginning in March and culminating in the National Championships in October, it has developed into the largest stand alone futsal tournament in the world.

The following phases are designed to assist in the development & promotion of Futsal through the schools & provide them with a vibrant & accessible pathway to not only tournaments, but above all participation and player and coach development with representative honours catering for the elite athletes also.

1.      THE REGIONAL SCHOOLS FUTSAL TITLES
