Welcome to yourfutsal.org
Futsal is a form of 5 a side football which originated in Brazil and is played around the world. It is recognised as being the best type of training for all other forms of football and, after many years, it is now taking off in the UK in a big way.
Middlesbrough
Futsal Club’s rapid growth has taken an extra step, proving that futsal in
Teesside is well and truly leading the way.
Matthew Wootton, one of Boro’s longest serving players has been offered
a professional playing contract in Italy with Presti Family Citrarum C5. They play in Serie C1, but such is the
popularity of futsal in Italy even teams in the third tier have professional
players.
The move
came about when Paolo Barbarossa, of Management & Sport Promotion contacted
Boro boss Damon Shaw through facebook.
He wanted to take the first English player to play in the Italian futsal
league.
Matthew
Wootton, who helped Boro to the FA Futsal League North Title last season,
jumped at the opportunity, with aspirations of playing for England surely to be
helped playing at a higher level.
Wootton had been training in Italy for a month before returning to
England for The FA Futsal League Playoffs, and now that Boro’s season has
finished, his transfer to Presti Family Citrarum will go through.
Manager
Damon Shaw thinks that it’s a great chance to build a relationship between the
two nations. “With Matt now playing in
Italy and our good friendship with Paolo I think a lot of doors will open to
help both countries. Italy is one of the
leading futsal nations and if we can follow their lead, some years down the
line we will undoubtedly have professional futsal teams here.”
As you will be aware the FA Futsal League North Play Offs
took place on Saturday 31st October and the successful teams were
Oldham Athletic and Liverpool Futsal Club. Both teams will enter the league for
the 2010 season. I would like to officially welcome them on board and wish them
good luck for the season ahead.
I have this morning finalised the fixtures for the season
and they are available on the full time website:
Middlesbrough
Futsal Club’s junior section is back for season 2009-2010, and it will be
bigger and better than before. Starting
this Friday (6th November) at Middlesbrough College, Middlesbrough
Futsal Club are calling boys of all abilities to come and give futsal a go.
There will
be under-14s and under-16s running this season with the aim of competing at the
FA Junior National Finals in June. Boro
will have to qualify through two regional competitions and friendly games and
tournaments will also be on the agenda.
The
under-14s team last season was a credit to the club says Manager Damon Shaw,
“Last season was one to go down in history for the club, we won the FA Futsal
League North and came close to challenging for the national title, but among
the success of the first team, the under-14s reached the national finals and
won a tournament in Perth. One player
also made an appearance for the first team in the recent tournament, scoring as
well becoming the youngest player to play and score for Boro at 15 years old!”
There is
an excellent route for boys joining the juniors now, with the opportunity to
play for the B team and first team in the future, and beyond that there is
potential to play for England and even professionally.
What:
Futsal, a version of small-sided football, played indoor with a smaller

How much: £3 per person or £10 for 4 sessions.

The FA Futsal League playoffs became a farce when Group A was decided with a walkover. Here's how it unfolded:
Middlesbrough
drew with Tranmere Victoria in the opening game of the day. Matthew
Wootton, on loan from Italian club Presti Family Citrarum, scored a
right footed shot into the top corner. Tranmere had the better of the
second half and equalised when Lee Armes diverted a shot that was going
wide into his own goal. Boro had two breakaway attacks and on both
occasions Tranmere committed tactical fouls to prevent a good
opportunity for Boro to go ahead. The game finished one all and Boro
had the edge on fair play, and rightly so - the two tactical fouls
prevented almost certain goals. As it stood, Boro were top, Tranmere
second and Genesis, yet to play, were third. Tranmere were due to play
Genesis next, giving Boro the advantage as they would know exactly what
they needed to do to qualify.
Genesis vs. Tranmere, due to kick off at 2pm. Genesis, who were
known to be running late had four players on the pitch at 2pm, not
enough to start a game and even though the other Genesis players were
close, and the schedule wouldn't have been decimated if they waited,
Tranmere were offered a 5-0 win. Of course they took it - Genesis are
one of the best teams in the country and probably would have won, and
were certainly favourites to go through.
Stories vary, apparently Genesis was late for their match vs, Tranmere Victoria; as a result Tranmere was awarded the match and given a 5-0 win.
Apparently Genesis had 4 players on pitch at KO time, a GK in the changing room and the remainder of team delayed 10 minutes from venue after M25 hold up?
Was the game awarded by organisers or claimed by Tranmere?
Why was an 5-0 score given? Yes a the written rules given to the teams say a 5-0 score would be awarded; if so who within the FA Rules and Affiliations department checked the document?
The FA Rules and Affiliations department have not allowed scores to be given for awarded matches in the past 25 years.
Have the organisers taken it upon themselves that because they represent the FA they don't have affiliate the tournament through the FA Rules and Affiliation department the same way as an outside league would?
The big fall guys was Middlesbrough who was told before their play off game they needed to win 5-0, when in fact they needed only to win, a situation requireing totally different tactics and strategy to chasing a lost cause.
It appears someone has made an error that has ruined a seasons effort for some dedicated players and officials.
